A banner day for C-145 restoration

On March 2, 2019, Baltimore Streetcar Museum and Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys members started working on Matthew E. Nawn’s Eagle Scout project to renovate 1923 Philadelphia Rapid Transit sweeper car C-145.

On July 11, 2020, we installed the last piece of the tongue and groove on the sides of the car, a major milestone in the effort. Members of the group are seen here celebrating the occasion.

The project is not yet finished, however. If anyone would like to make a donation, please click on the donation button here on our website.

Thanks to everyone who has donated and participated in this worthwhile effort!

Progress continues on Philadelphia sweper C-145

FPT’s Matt Nawn talks about the C-145 project.

While many of us have been cooped up at home, or on essential jobs, unable to enjoy our favorite hobbies, Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys members have been able to continue work on one of the projects funded through the generous donations from our supporters.

As you can see in the attached video from Operator Logan, efforts to refurbish Philadelphia sweeper C-145 at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum have been ongoing. And, we promise, the work and video have been undertaken with social distancing precautions.

Vintage views of two PCC cars restored with FPT’s help

Here are Philadelphia PCC Cars #2743 and #2168 when they were looking worn out.

Today, thanks to the generosity of our supporters and friends, The Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys has been able to contribute more than $90,000 total to ensure these cars have been preserved in excellent running condition for future generations.

Thanks to Ed Springer for the photos.
